My heart is so saddened by the latest shooting, now in the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Keeping my self balanced around the tragedy at this time of year is most important. The holidays are hard for so many people, and this just adds to the sadness of the Season. This morning in my Yoga class, I remarked that when I lived back East, and severe winter weather descended upon us. Everyone came together and helped strangers out. People didn't think twice.
Now in this continuing time of stress, we need to come together and help one and another. Sangha means community.
The strength of our community equates to the happiness of our lives. Breathe more especially when your breath is taken away by pain. Remember that emotional distress becomes physical pain. Walk with your eyes open to the world around you, and not lost in the possibility of more tragedy happening. See clearly your friends and family, asking how they are. Don't assume that things are alright. It isn't time to judge, but a time to be aware.
My yoga practice is to keep me balanced. Life is always a bumpy road and that is alright. Life is not a scripted melodrama. Can we help balance the energy of the men in our lives? Young men seem to be striking out at those who can't strike back. When someone is seeing the world in a state of delusion, can we understand how they present themselves? Be kinder to all. Walk gently upon our earth.
