When life gets going, time does fly by. As I posted last, getting sick pulls your life to a dead crawl. Time goes by without recognition that a week has passed. Everyone tells you to take care of yourself, as if you weren't. My path to wellness has always been my yoga practice. Please don't imagine that I am doing a vigorous vinyasana flow practice.
Yoga is the joining of energies. Yoga is about mental focus on stillness. It is about breath awareness. It is about personal awareness. Yoga is not simply a physical exercise program. It is about getting to know oneself through observation. It means backing off at times.
When I was hospitalized, I used apanasana to loosen back stiffness. Pointing and flexing my toes was to help legs stiffness and to maintain circulation. My very sore ribs from coughing just needed my stretching my arms overhead in bed. Even though I was coughing way too much, that didn't mean that I give up focusing on slowing down and deepening my breath. Sitting on the edge of my bed, started with pumping my feet up and down to get my bearings. Seated pelvic tilt was to help keep the stiffness at bay.
That was in April and here in June my sense of wellness has finally returned. Getting better takes long as it does. Thanks to viniyoga for keeping me healthier day by day.
